The Convex Hull of Rational Plane Curves
We present an algorithm that computes the convex hull of multiple rational curves in the plane. The problem is reformulated as one of nding the zero-sets of polynomial equations in one or two variables; using these zero-sets we characterize curve segments that belong to the boundary of the convex hull. We also present a preprocessing step that can eliminate many redundant curve segments.
متن کاملDetecting Similarity of Plane Rational Curves
A novel and deterministic algorithm is presented to detect whether two given planar rational curves are related by means of a similarity, which is a central question in Pattern Recognition. As a by-product it finds all such similarities, and the particular case of equal curves yields all symmetries. A complete theoretical description of the method is provided, and the method has been implemente...
متن کاملComputing singular points of plane rational curves
We compute the singular points of a plane rational curve, parametrically given, using the implicitization matrix derived from the μ-basis of the curve. It is shown that singularity factors, which are defined and uniquely determined by the elementary divisors of the implicitization matrix, contain all the information about the singular points, such as the parameter values of the singular points ...
متن کاملDetecting Symmetries of Rational Plane Curves
Given a rational algebraic curve defined by means of a rational parametrization, we address here the problem of deterministically detecting whether the curve exhibits some kind of symmetry (central, mirror, rotation), and of computing the elements of the symmetry in the affirmative case. We provide effective methods for solving these questions without any conversion to implicit form. The underl...
